In history books, Münster is best known for being the site of negotiating and signing the Peace of Westphalia ending the Thirty Years’ War in 1648. For visitors, another aspect might be even more remarkable: Münster is said to be the bicycle capital of Germany, with two to three bikes per capita. Due to the flat landscape and efficient structure, you can pass old buildings, beautiful parks or vibrant shopping streets within minutes. The ‘bicycle freeway’ called Promenade is reserved for bicycle traffic and pedestrians and thus the best way to get around town fast.
